A camera "spying" on you refers to the covert or unauthorized monitoring, recording, and capturing of your image, audio, or activities by a third party without your consent or knowledge. This typically involves using surveillance cameras (webcams, home security cameras, or smartphones) in private spaces or manipulating them to gain information.

How Cameras Spy on You

Hacked IoT/Smart Cameras: Security cameras (Ring, Nest, etc.) can be hacked if default passwords are not changed or firmware is outdated, allowing unauthorized access to live feeds.

Smartphone Spyware/Stalkerware: Malicious apps or software installed on phones can give attackers access to both front and rear cameras, as well as the microphone and location tracking.

Hidden/Nanny Cams: Devices disguised as everyday objects (clocks, lamps) used to secretly record, sometimes used by individuals for surveillance.

Warning Signs You Are Being Spied On

Unexpected Activity: Camera LEDs turning on by themselves, or the camera rotating/moving without your command.

Strange Files: Photos or videos in your gallery/cloud storage you did not record.

Device Performance Issues: Unusual battery drain, overheating, or higher-than-normal data usage, which indicates a camera is operating in the background.

System Alerts: Receiving "Camera in use" notifications when no app is open.
