Not to be confused with Area 51, the classified US Air Force base featured in extraterrestrial conspiracy theories. Area 52 is usually connected to the Tonopah Test Range, a military installation near Tonopah, Nevada - and Dugway Proving Ground, a military installation in Tooele County, Utah. Area 52, primarily known as the Tonopah Test Range (TTR) in Nevada, is a highly restricted, 625-square-mile U.S. Department of Energy facility used for classified aerospace and nuclear testing. Located 70 miles northwest of the famous Area 51, it is associated with the 412th Test Wing and has tested experimental aircraft like the F-117 Nighthawk. Situated on the northern edge of the Nellis Range, approximately 30 miles southeast of Tonopah, Nevada. The site is utilized for advanced defense projects, including nuclear stockpile stewardship, experimental aircraft testing, and unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) trials.

While often linked to conspiracy theories similar to Area 51, it operates as a legitimate, highly secure research installation under the DoD and DOE. The facility was established in 1957. Some sources also refer to the Dugway Proving Ground in Utah as a remote, highly secretive facility sometimes termed "Area 52".
