The connection between Antarctica and Agartha is a popular modern conspiracy theory and esoteric legend claiming that the frozen continent serves as the primary, hidden entrance to a subterranean, advanced civilization inside the Earth. While Agartha is historically linked to Tibetan/Hindu traditions of a hidden kingdom (often associated with Shambhala) under the Himalayas or Central Asia, modern theories have shifted its entrance to the poles.

The Admiral Byrd "Secret Diary": The most prominent element of this theory is the alleged, but unsubstantiated, diary of Admiral Richard E. Byrd. Proponents claim that during his 1947 Operation Highjump expedition, Byrd flew beyond the South Pole into an opening in the Earth, encountering a lush, green land, extinct creatures, and advanced beings (Agarthians).
Entrance to the Inner Earth: The theory posits that the immense, unexplored ice shelves of Antarctica hide, or are in close proximity to, entrances leading to an inner, hollow world.
Nazi Bases (New Swabia): Fringe theories suggest that during World War II, the Nazis established a secret, underground base (Base 211) in the Antarctica region known as New Swabia, where they allegedly made contact with Agarthian beings and developed advanced technology or UFO-like craft.
